Microwave absorbing materials have been used for antenna pattern shaping, radar cross section (RCS) reduction and electro-magnetic interference (EMI) reduction. Recently, there has been a growing interest in development of planar absorbing materials in the microwave frequency range.

We propose periodic and planar absorbers for the microwave frequency range. The absorbers consist of resonant elements. The absorption of the power is obtained by a resistive termination connected to each receiving element in the periodic structure or by other methods developed in-house.

We propose different kinds of absorbers:

  • broadband
  • stable at all-polarization
  • stable at oblique angles
  • dual-band
  • thin (low profile)

The design is obtained by an optimization process on the parameters of the unit cell.
